To The Phones!

Well, I think I have good reason for wanting to post, and here's why: I think I may have lost some of that motivation I had about posting for a while there. Sure, I still post daily, but I think it may have temporarily lost it's heart. I say temporarily, because I plan on bringing back the heart. How will I? I've got ideas. I'm thinking of a way to advertise this blog, but it's not totally formulated yet. I'm thinking massive fundraisers, prime-time ads, maybe even a bribe or two to the bigwigs in the top of the companies that could get this thing somewhere. Actually, that takes money, so maybe I'll just keep telling people I don't even like about my blog. "Please, would you visit this site, and leave a comment so the author doesn't feel as lonely when he wanders the Internet late at night." It's starting to get sad.
Oh, guess what? I just got seasons 7 and 4 of Scrubs. Season 7 is a really short season, because of the stupid writer's strike. I certainly kept writing during it (probably because I don't get paid). I understand there were issues going on, but that doesn't relate to the fact that I didn't get to watch my favourite shows.
As an interesting tidbit, were you aware that spell checks don't recognise the British spelling of "favourite"? It recognizes "favorite", but once you throw in that "u" for good effect, it rejects it like a defective ATM rejects a password. I know, everyone hates a bad metaphor, as I've learned from reading Dilbert, but I've got to make due.
As I'm sitting here, I'm getting distracted by Scrubs and wondering whether or not to stop posting as to devote my whole attention. I'm guessing the best option would be to finish the post and watch, because otherwise my posting might suffer. I know you all wouldn't want that to occur.

Popcorn's Yummy

Mmmmm. popcorn is so tasty. I just popped up a nice big bowl of it, so now I'm going to sit down, munch on it, and chill on the Internet. I decided the best way to go about this would be to first write a blog post, then IM and watch Charlie The Unicorn. Man, that video's hilarious!
Well, looks like the posting part is done. See ya, I suppose.

Blogger In All Of It's Amazingness

Hey, it's me again. You know, I'm really not a fan of the way some parts of Blogger are set up. The Blogger Buzz section, for example. It hasn't been updated for a week, and probably won't be for a while. Also, the blogs of note seem a bit fishy. I don't think necessarily they should be the best blogs on the site, but the most well-liked. teen blogs, whose subject I just can't seem to get away from, aren't always well set up, but that doesn't mean they aren't the most sincere. According to Wikipedia, the most common type of blog is the personal blog, written by someone who is aware no one will read it, and is still quite proud. I may not have the best set up blog in the world, but I still love it. I created this blog, and it's setup is therefore irrelevant. I think they should look for blogs with fewer followers instead of more. The small, unknown blogs are the ones that need to be better advertised, not the ones that already have 200 followers.
I'm not sure if that's an unbiased opinion, however, so lets try and stray away from that subject. I try to write this blog not unbiased, but with a little of my own personal opinion thrown in for flavor. If it was completely unbiased, it would be like a newspaper, and it would lack the teenage angst I wish to instill in readers. That said, sometimes a bias will get in the way of logic and make you appear unintelligent. To quote a wise man, "Better is he who is silent and thought to be a fool than he who opens his mouth and removes all doubt." Okay, really my grandpa says that, but that doesn't make it any less wise.
I've removed a lot of the gadgets that were on this page, because they seemed to clutter up the page. Plus, they sometimes had ads at the bottom, and that's not what I'm about. I would rather not have ads on my page if I don't have to. Sure, I'm aware some things require an ad to fund them, but that doesn't mean I want my page covered in ads. It distracts one from the blog posts, and that's what this blog is all about. I don't want you to play around with the widgets the entire time you're on Boyd's World, because that's not what it's here for. I don't just write these posts as a decorative element, I write them to be read.
Well, I'm going to goof around with the settings and see if I can make my blog any more "notable". Wish me luck!

Food

Hi, and thanks for tuning in again. I've got a subject in mind, so maybe this post will perhaps be slightly less rambling than my usual posts.

I think I might know why a lot of America is overweight. American food, or at least most of it, doesn't satisfy people. You aren't satisfied, so you eat more. You search for something in the food that's just not there. I know this because I've tasted other food, and I've felt the satisfaction that comes with real food. Other countries have figured out how food is supposed to be made, and we haven't.

Now, I'm not saying I don't like the mass produced food we're so commonly provided. McDonald's is delicious, as are the crappy school lunches they give us. The thing is, however, it doesn't provide what we want or need.

All you need to do is search out food made by the natives of the country or region, and BAM!, you've got what is wanted. Chicago style pizza only satisfies one if it's made by true Chicago people. Pad Thai is made the best by, obviously, the Thai. It's the same.

Also, food made by non-corporate restaurants is usually better in the capacities I've mentioned. If it's made by a small, locally owned cafe, it will be totally awesome. If it's made by a cafe that could be found on any corner in the world, it will taste good, but it won't really be good. It's the same all over.

I'm brought to this topic because today was an especially delicious day. For breakfast, I had veggie sliders with cucumbers and goat cheese. It sounds totally nasty, but it was food nirvana. Where did I find it? A small, non-franchise coffee shop-like place. For dinner (I didn't have any lunch), I had Chicago style pizza. It wasn't from Chicago, but the chefs most certainly were. I ate my fill, and was totally satisfied.

Now, this isn't a diet plan, so don't think it is. It isn't exactly the best plan. since I did gorge myself on what I ate. It didn't work for me, so it probably won't for you. Really, I just wanted to talk about the delicious food I ate today. However, the underlying principle remains, so just pretend all of my inane chatter about food made more sense than I fear it did.

See you tomorrow, or maybe Monday. Bye!

Let's Watch Some T.V.

Hey everyone, how's it going? I know I said I would post this morning, but I didn't. Do I care? Nope. I can still remember the days of one post a week. If you can't live that long without a posting, then you really need to find something else to do with your life. I really don't have much to talk about, so I guess I'll tell you what's going on. I'm watching The Kids In The Hall, a Canadian show from the Nineties. It basically takes ordinary situations and turns them around to seem surreal to all the straight men and forces them to cope. It's a bit risque, but it's totally hilarious. Actually, I am rather more interested in watching it than posting, so this is going to be a short post today. Well, see you later.

Twelve People

Let me let you see exactly what my environment is as I post in the mornings. I'm sitting in a corner, working on a refurbished 98 that was converted to an XP, with Skull candy headphones in my ears that are hooked up to a crappy imitation Ipod. The keyboard has to sit on my lap, because there is no room on the desk the monolith 98 sits on. I'm in a zen state, aware of the fact in a few minutes I'll have to deal with humanity. The Dead Milkmen are playing, and it's a pretty good song. My leg has gone numb from lack of circulation due to the keyboard.
I give you this insight into my writing so you can understand exactly what the conditions around me are as I write to you dear readers. It's something interesting to do, and I haven't posted about it before so it's at least a change in scenery.
Yesterday I realized that to you readers, it must seem as though I have no friends in this world other than Ashley and Alix. I realized this because one of my best friends asked me why I never wrote about her on here. I could have explained it was because she never posted a comment, but instead I told her it was because I wasn't sure if she would be okay with it. Now I feel an obligation to mention all of my friends. There's Keeley, who is the one who brought this predicament to my attention, as well as Kyle, who's a great friend to have. There's Alexis, who would be upset if I didn't mention her. There's my slow-witted band members (and ex-band members), who hopefully understand all of my ridicule is in good nature. There's Leah, whom I mention because she's more likely to read this than others, plus because we went out last year and it would be cruel not to mention her. There's the Eisenhart's, who moved to Indiana last year but are still worthy of mentioning. There's Tessa, trumpet player much more skilled than I. Then of course, we have Ashley, who just started hanging out with me this year, And last, but most certainly not least, Alix. She was the first person to ever read my blog, so she deserves special mention. oh, I suppose if pioneers are getting special mention, Stephen should also be mentioned.
If I failed to mention you, don't feel left out. I just mentioned those who are most likely to read this. It's a good thing to be mentioned on this list, because it could mean special Boyd's World mention in the future. When this blog is world-famous, there might be some mention as to being original readers. Only a few people on that list have never been here, and I hope to change that in the near future. If you are reading this, and have been a dedicated reader, lack of mention is you're own fault. If you posted comments, I would know you read it, but as it is it's impossible to tell.
All of that said, see you next time, which will be either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Blogging In School

Well, Obama won. I'm not really surprised. I didn't log on to talk about that the whole time, however. I know that yesterday I had some great ideas for topics today, so I'm hoping they'll all float to the surface as I'm typing. I wasn't sure if I would even be able to post this morning, because of the inordinate amount of homework I have. Then I found out my book bag, with all of my homework in it, went missing. Now I'm free to type as much as I want, the only price being three missing assignments.
You know what would be cool? If I could use this blog for a grade in Language Arts. it's not inappropriate, and it's better written than most of my papers. Apparently, the teachers' in service yesterday mentioned something along the lines of free expression through a chosen medium, so I think the teacher will be more acceptable to my idea than previous. I'm also trying to become a journalist for the school newspaper, which is a hard task. I've got the disadvantage that the teacher is my mom, and that it's not an extra-curricular class. In my defense, last year they asked me to draw a comic strip for the paper, so I know it's okay to be in it even if your not in the class. Unfortunately, my mom has alienated her classes to me by mocking me during class and making me seem like an easily pushed around student. Her class is mostly 7th grade girls, so I try to be as forgiving as possible, but it's starting to bother me. They don't fear me like they fear the rest of my class. Fear is an important thing for them to feel, because I'm older and deserve the respect.
You know what? I don't think I'm going to do that project. The person who dissuaded me should know who they are. Thanks a lot.
well, see you tomorrow!

A Post of Meaningless Rambling

Hey everyone, how's it going? I'm still sitting in my living room, watching Scrubs. Oh, has anyone else noticed how much less I'm titling my posts? Probably not, since I usually fix that within 2 minutes of posting. You would have to have really fast Internet, read my posts at six in the morning, and refresh the page almost every minute. I'm also using the same writing tricks each post. It's hard to notice, but almost every post I use the sentence bridge "however" to create the illusion of competence and skill. I also start every new idea "Oh, blah blah blah." It's probably not noticeable to anyone other than a self-critic such as myself, but it's starting to bother me a little bit. I don't think I'll stop, but I need something somewhat interesting to write about as I sit here and wonder if I should get up and do something productive with my life.
As for the election, so far Obama's in the lead. This will probably be the last Boyd's World post for four years where there is confusion as to who the president is. Who knows, maybe by then this place will be world famous and I'll be a rock star/famous blogger. Crush of Society will be launching their world tour and I'll get to meet the future candidates when it gets to Washington.
I've also noticed that my posts are generally longer and a little less incoherent. They do, however, seem to cover multiple topics each time.
Well, I'm going to get up and become a productive member of society now. By that I mean I'm going to do chores, then head over to my grandparents' house and try to make some moo-lah. Well, see you next time, my friends.

Elections and Expansion

Have you noticed how much more I've been posting lately? I'm not sure exactly why, but I like it. I get to chat with all of you wonderful readers more often, and I can cover all the topics I wish to. I still haven't gotten to covering the big project I proposed last week, but that will take time. I've been unusually inspired recently, so I've had stuff to write about every time I log on. Eventually, however, I'll get some inspiration eventually and try to achieve the mammoth task.
I decided early on I wouldn't be overly political on here, but with election day merely hours away, I'd like to talk about the candidates. First, let's cover Obama. He is probably going to win, and here's why: he's talking about change, and that's what most Americans want. McCain, however, seems to be somewhat poorly represented and ill-broadcast. Now, I'm writing this totally impartially, so don't take this the wrong way. I really shouldn't be talking about any of this, since I don't have to pay taxes yet and I don't have a full grasp of all the issues. Unfortunately, this is my electronic domain, and I'll do what I want while I'm in here.
In other news, more people yet are being referred to Boyd's World. I tell anyone I think cares even the least bit, and quite often they show their friends. That's how Ashley discovered Boyd's World; Alix showed it to her. Now she has her own blog, and has shown a lot of people this site. It's a growing kingdom, but I'll never forget the pioneer of this lovely place, especially because I'm going out with her. Yes, you heard me right. Drew has a girlfriend! She is a wonderful person, and I'm ecstatical to be her boyfriend.
Well, I've got to get back to watching the SNL Election Bash on channel 2. Where else will I get all of my world news?
I shouldn't be allowed to type when I'm tired.

A Moment of Inspiration

It's weird. All of a sudden, within two months, my blog has gone from being virtually unknown to semi-popular. People I don't even hang out with are coming up to me and complimenting me on Boyd's World. I'm still shooting for being on VH1's 40 Best Peices of Web Junk, but I'd say this is a pretty good start. Like I say, you have to start out local. Okay, I don't really say that, but who cares. Stop pointing out my flaws, you jerks.
I know that yesterday I had a great topic to write about this morning, but now it's completely left my mind. If you know what it was, please tell me. Instead, I will once again write about whatever comes to my mind.
Oh, now I remember! I was going to compare this to my journal! Anyway, when I was younger, I kept a journal, in which I wrote about all of my recent experiences, crushes, so on and so forth. Now, I don't write in it. It bothered me fore a great while that I stopped putting entries in, until the other day. I realized that instead of a journal, like I had, I really needed a platform from which to tell people about my life. My journal was only read by me, so the writing style suffered. This is designed to be read by the masses, so it is written in that manner. The writing in my journal was very forced sounding, and artificially cheerful. With Boyd's World, however, I write almost exactly the same as I talk. Therefore, It's much more realistic sounding.
Quite honestly, I don't think I'll be able to write in my journal anymore. It's hard to skip an entire year and a half, and then just act like nothing happened. It's hard to sound sincere when writing, "Oh, and by the way, I moved into a new house, went out with three girls, and became class president during the time I quit entering." It just sounds ridiculous. I really need to be able to write on the edge of the moment, because otherwise I go back and despise what I wrote.
Oh, one other quick thing. You know that post about the prep who wouldn't hang out with a kid because he was fat? Yeah, both the prep and the other kid found out about the post. First, one of my favourite readers asked me who the person that was overweight was right in front of him, then he got mad when he found out who the prep was, and now neither of them are talking. Really, I don't feel bad, because someone as conceited as the prep in question should not be allowed to say something like they did and get away with it. I'd feel worse if it had been added to by me, but my account was totally true.
Well, the bells about to ring, and I just realized I forgot to check out this week's Slowwave. Until next time, Drew Morgan.

Let's Party Some More!

Well, the party went awesome. I won't go into specifics, as not to embarrass some of my fellow party goers. (wink wink) However, I do expect you all to feel pity for me. I went to a party that consisted of seven girls and yours truly. I discovered they like to giggle and shriek a lot. My ears were bleeding by the end. The certainly turned red from embarrassment enough times.
Despite the odds against it, however, I had a ton of fun. I've discovered partying, and I want more. I'll have to start having my own, so there's no deficiency in them. Getting bored? Throw a party. Invite girls. Problem solved.
Obviously, I don't intend on getting smashed every weekend, or going to raves. I'm in my flippin' early teens, so that's not really even an option. I just like to see my friends in a less constrictive environment than school every once in a while. That's why I love being in band. We have parties occasionally, as well as a yearly trip to Cedar Point. Our teacher is incredibly laid back, so it's just as good as completely non-school stuff. You would be amazed at what goes on in those practice rooms.
Well, I have to go back to sitting in my living room watching Scrubs and wishing it was Monday. I know your all thinking, "Who likes Mondays?". Well, I do, and I don't care about your opinion a regarding it. Mondays mean the beginning of the week, and the week means I get to see my friends again. But enough about me. Let's get back to sitting in my glider rocker, watching an episode of Scrubs that I've seen a 100 times already, wishing I could see my friends.
Peace out, man.

Let's Party!

This post will be short and sweet, because I've got to get going to a party at which Alex and Ashley will be. It's going to be cool, because I rarely get invited to parties. I suppose the type of people that would invite me to parties don't ever throw them. Well, I meant it when I said this post would be brief, so I gotta go. See ya!

Coming To a Blog Post Near You

This is a special post, done in the style of no other. The reasons why will be explained shortly, so just stick with me.
I've dissed many types of music in the past, often without reason. Well, today I will give that reason. I'm going to delve into the different genres of music, and give my opinion on each, and of course logical reasoning. It will be a long process, so I will be working on it in series. There will be a post named, Rock, with all of the sub-genres, a post called Pop, and so on. It will take a while, and a new catagory won't be posted every day. You'll just have to be patient, and hang in there. My normal witty posts will still be mixed in, so this blog won't end up like Scott Adams' blog. Well, let's get started.

Happy Halloween!

Hey, just wanted to write a quick post on Halloween! I am pretty excited about going trick-or-treating! Yes, I still trick-or-treat. Do you have a problem with that? Oh, guess what else? People think the Jim Morrison picture on my profile is actually me! And not just people who have never met me, but classmates. That's cool, because that's the look I'm going for. Well, the bell's about to ring, so I've got to get going, but happy Halloween!

Mining for Gems

I just want to warn you in advance, this is gonna be another one of those posts where I have no clear idea of what to write about. I'm sure if you're a regular reader your already familiar with these posts, so just bear with me. I know occasionally a gem of brilliance floats up out of these posts.

Don't you just love to read blogs that are just starting up? Ashley's blog is one of those. Eventually you learn that useing proper punctuation and grammer is much better, but it's fun while it lasts. The first few posts are awkward and uncomfortable, where you're going, "why am I writing this? Few, if any, people are reading this. What's the point?". Actually, Ashley knows a few people read her blog, whereas when mine began I knew I was alone in a world of six billion. Now, obviously, I know people read this, but it was a lonely beggining. The trick is surviving it.

I've also discovered a new cool band. By new, I mean new to me. They're called The Dead Milkmen, and they're really funny. All of their songs are mocking something, and they have that cool garage band/pre-grunge sound. I have two of their albums, and I'd like to get more. I heard them on an XM station, and I thought the song I heard was really funny. When reassured they were all like that, I quickly logged on to Amazon and ordered what was supposed to be their best album, Big Lizard In My Back Yard. It was an awesome album, so I went on and got another album, Eat Your Paisley! It's also pretty good. Actually, I'm listening to the latter right now, as we speak.

I discovered yesterday that I write dramatically better when writing like I'm writing to you lovely readers. I had to write an alphabiography, which I won't bore you with explaining, and I was told that auto- and alpha- biographies are supposed to be written in a very laid back style. Well, in my opinion, my best work is this blog, so I wrote it like a blog post. I read it to the class, and recieved a wave of applause and laughter. So, I figured I would thank you all for helping me write even better.

Well, I seem to have temporarily dried up my well of inspiration. Okay, not really, but I have very little time left to spellcheck this and post it, so I've got to be getting on. Peace out!

I'm Still Alive!

Well, I guess the camp out went okay. I didn't freeze to death, although the only long sleeve article of clothing I brought was my mountain man coat. It's a really old coat, ands I had to keep it from getting dirty the whole weekend. Everybody else was looking all intelligent and stuff in their nice warm troop jackets and hoodies, while I stood there in a 18th century style wool coat. I managed not to kill anyone in my troop, although at a few points it got pretty close. All the people in that troop have the same opinion about it as me. They don't enjoy getting yelled at over trivial things and having to do push-ups for completely stupid reasons. It's not the military, it's stinkin' Boy Scouts! Sorry about that, but I had to diverge a little.
In other news, I submitted an idea to Slowwave for publishing. I keep checking in to see whether or not the guy will pick my story. I wait for the web page to slowly download with bated breath, wondering, "Could this be the day I get published? Will I gain the publicity I desire?" Well, that's at least what I think until the page downloads and I see I'm just an average loser. Then I go listen to heavy metal and cut myself. Um, I just realized it's hard to convey sarcasm through words, so let me just state that I'm not emo, or a cutter. It's just a joke that would be funny if you could hear the inflection in my voice.
Well, what can you really say after a failed joke like that?

Thanks For Tuning In!

Hello, lovely readers., sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I know, I know, you're all starved of that zany Drew's opinions, but I have stuff to do other than just sit around and post on here all day. Oh, guess what? I'm going camping this weekend. That's right. I'll be in a tent all weekend, in the near freezing tempatures Michigan has been having. Oh, and just to throw a little extra fun in, I'll be dressed like a mountain man and teaching little kids how to tie knots.
Part of the reason for my lack of posts was a failed attempt to post audio on the post. You see, I wanted to be able to give my posts in verbal form instead of the usual. However, all you can do with Blogger is post video. I would post a video of me talking, but I've been brainwashed enough that I don't want my picture on the internet. Therefore, I will create some sort of entertaining video for you to watch as I give my post. Quite honestly, thanks to being rideculed for wanting to do an audio post, I'm not sure if I even want to anymore. Thanks a lot. You know who you are.
Well I've gotta run, so see you next time!

Advertising

Does anyone know how Blogger picks the blogs of note? I've visited most of them, and most of them stink. I think it's becoming apparent that Blogger is more for intellectual-type sites and not for mine. I'll stay here, but I feel out of place here. I think Blogger might even be more successful if they had more blogs full of teenage angst like mine. It's just a bit more entertaining, in my opinion, than a blog all about a geologist's adventures. Sure, that's good for a research paper, but not for an entertaining blog to follow and cherish forever. I believe that's what people are looking for, not a blog all about someone's cat. If shows all about regular teen life are so popular, why can't a blog about it be popular too?
Create the revolution. Read Boyd's World!

A Lost Opportunity

Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to report yet another update on my band, and stage nervousness.
last night, I, Drew Morgan of Crush of Society, was provided with the chance to fill in for the lead singer of a band for a few songs, and I was too afraid to do it. The song was Blister In the Sun, which I know I could have sang. I started to realize I should have gone up to sing when the singer started to butcher the lyrics. Then he went on to play Add It Up, another Violent Femmes song, and radio edited it (poorly, might I add).
How will I ever be the singer for a rock band if I can't even stand up in front of a nearly empty room and sing one of my favorite songs? I keep telling myself it was because I didn't know the band and it occurred in a bar full of obnoxious golfers, but I'm not sure how good of an excuse that is. I want to be like the Clash, who went on stage and said,"we're gonna play you some songs now, and we don't care if you like them or not." That's got to take guts.
Well, I guess all I can do is look for more good opportunities like that and take advantage of them.

A Tiny Windfall

Well, I guess I'm sorry about not posting yesterday afternoon. I walked to the library after school, and despite the fact I was one of the first people in, the flippin' computers were already full! The reason I was walking to the library in the first place was for a teen trivia contest, in which I took second. The prize? A ten dollar gift card to Barnes & Noble! Sweet! I know ten bucks isn't exactly an enormous windfall, but it's ten bucks that I didn't have before and I didn't have to work for it.
